Glass Falls 50 Stories Injuring 2 People
A glass panel weighing 1500 lbs fell more than 50 stories onto a pedestrian walkway, injuring 2 people. The 5x13 foot panel was to be attached to the 51st floor facade of a Bank of America building that is under construction in midtown Manhattan.
When the glass shattered, it rained pieces onto the sidewalk next to the 54 story tower.
Two men were hit by the flying glass and were hospitalized with minor injuries.
Work on the building was stopped for failing to safeguard the public and property, failing to maintain vertical netting, and not having a second exit route on the building's top 3 floors.
